Gifted and Talented Parent Council Featuring “The Imagine Project”
The Office of Gifted and Talented Services is hosting the Gifted and Talented Parent Council for the 2019/20 school year. This meeting is open to all parents/guardians of Gifted and Talented students. This meeting will feature Imagine Project – a practical, effective and profound tool which empowers kids to rise above drama, trauma & stress. Come meet the author and experience the power of the Imagine Project.
Dianne Maroney is a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing. She is the founder of the Imagine Project, Inc., a nonprofit organization that helps kids, teens, and adults overcome challenging life circumstances through expressive writing. Dianne is a thought leader in the area of stress and trauma in children. Her simple, yet profound 7-step writing tool, now used by schools across the US and internationally, gives kids and teens the opportunity to rewrite a challenging personal story and Imagine new possibilities in its place.

After the Gifted and Talented Parent Council meeting at SARC, join us around the corner at our CCGT Meet & Greet after the CCSD GT Parent Council. Drop in and meet other parents of gifted students and your Cherry Creek GT affiliate board members! There is always plenty of great conversation and lots of parents find answers to their gifted-related questions.

CCGT Speaker Series: Dr. Colleen Urlik, CAGT president-elect, on Parent & School Collaboration

Dr. Colleen Urlik’s life revolves around giftedness and the specialized instruction gifted learners require. She began in education as a classroom teacher, where she quickly discovered her passion for gifted learners through working with them within her classroom and in the school as the GT Building Coordinator. She now holds a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction with a Specialization in Gifted Education from the University of Denver. Dr. Urlik is the President Elect for the Colorado Association for the Gifted and Talented, Colorado’s statewide advocacy and education group and the state affiliate for the National Association for Gifted Children, and is the Principal at Hulstrom K-8, Adam 12 Five Star School District’s magnet school for advanced and gifted education. She is also the mother of two gifted children and loves nothing more than exploring and adventuring through the world with them and her husband.

The Colorado Association for Gifted and Talented is the statewide organization with many affiliates all over Colorado. CAGT is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization of parents, educators, and others interested in promoting suitable education, including creative stimulation, for gifted and talented children, while also seeking public recognition and aid for the special needs of these children.
